AIRSystem

AIRSystem is a consolidated live database of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) in Victorian government-owned buildings.

The first of its kind in Australia, AIRSystem stores the asbestos registers of 13,000 Victorian Government workplaces. AIRSystem records the location and condition and assesses the risk of identified ACMs, which enables:

  • agencies to safely manage their asbestos legacy
  • the VAEA to prioritise asbestos removal.

Why create AIRSystem?

Recognising the extent and range of buildings owned by the Victorian Government, the VAEA developed AIRSystem to consolidate the vast amount of information about these buildings, their location and their condition.

The ability to digitally access this information, in one place, helps:

  • individual organisations easily understand the asbestos legacy of the buildings for which they’re responsible
  • the government plan for the removal of ACMs across the State of Victoria.

AIRSystem benefits

The benefits of using AIRSystem to securely store your asbestos register and associated information include:

  • improving workplace health and safety
  • reducing the risk of ACM damage or disturbance and employee exposure to asbestos
  • senior leaders and decision-makers understanding the asbestos legacy
  • easy access to building and ACM history in one place
  • improving risk and building and asset management
  • greater opportunities for data-sharing across government.

Users can also upload survey reports, photos, floor plans and records of asbestos removal into AIRSystem using AIRTracker(opens in a new window).

ACM risk assessment

AIRSystem incorporates a bespoke risk algorithm to consistently assess the risk of each identified ACM.

Understanding your building’s asbestos legacy helps plan and prioritise the safe removal of ACMs.
