Home » What we do

We drive a coordinated, risk-based approach to asbestos removal from Victorian Government-owned buildings, equipping agencies to prioritise and plan removal.

We bring together:

  • data: workplace asbestos registers consolidated in AIRSystem, our centralised database.
  • risk assessment: an evidence-based model for assessing ACMs and determining removal priorities.
  • guidance: advice on asbestos policy, surveys and removal.

These give government agencies a consistent basis for planning systematic removal.

Our scope

Our work covers Victorian Government-owned buildings. Infrastructure such as fences, bridges and pipes is outside our remit, as are premises leased or sub-leased to tenants by the Director of Housing.

Government schools fall under the Victorian School Building Authority.

AIRSystem

AIRSystem is the foundation of our work – the consolidated database of identified ACMs in government-owned buildings in Victoria. We regularly collect asbestos information from government agencies and consolidate it in AIRSystem.

AIRSystem:

  • records the condition and location of identified ACMs
  • risk-rates identified ACMs, based on ACM condition, friability, disturbance potential, and building use.

AIRSystem gives government a centralised, comprehensive database to plan and prioritise large-scale asbestos removal.
